London police say that 139 people have been arrested at a protest outside the U.S. Embassy in support of the banned group Palestine Action. London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement that the majority of the arrests on Saturday were related to individuals expressing support for a proscribed organization. It said that more arrests were likely. There was also a vigil outside the U.S. Consulate in the Scottish capital Edinburgh in support of Palestine Action. The U.K. government outlawed the direct-action protest group last year as a terrorist organization.
